I always love summer. The markets are going on, people are getting out and it is nice to see old friends, make new ones and tackle those larger projects that you can’t seem to get done the rest of the year. This has certainly been the case at Of Earth &Air this summer.

2014 will go down as the summer of the interns. I’m old so I confess I’m still trying to wrap my head around the concept of interns, please bear with me. We have been in business for 13 years and have made many good friends in that time and learned from all of them. This summer we were approached by an art student friend, she felt that she needed to do an internship for her resume. Ms Heather Lowe has spent the entire summer working incredibly hard reorganizing us as well as injecting fresh ideas and a whole new energy into Of Earth & Air that will continue on, and as she has done so her delightful sense of humor has made this a great deal of fun.

At about the same time my good friend Jack Cain introduced me to the fabulous Ms. Dena Cohen. If you are reading this, you can’t miss her contribution, for she is web designer extraordinaire. It seems that she also needed to do an internship for her web development degree. She has a background in massage therapy that has been very helpful but she also has a cheerful determination that has helped keep us motivated and the result is our beautiful new website and its companion site www.massagehillsboro.com. Dena has gone above and beyond, far exceeding the requirements of her class and becoming a friend in the process. I can only hope that it has been as positive a learning experience for her as it has been for us.

My wife Kate and I truly appreciate the incredible amount of work and energy these two amazing women have put into our business, as well as our lives. We have learned a lot about determination and tenacity along with patience from these two. They have needed all 3 attributes to teach the two of us new ways of looking at and doing things. Words can not properly express our deep affection and appreciation!!
